The Danger of Democracy
In modern history a “Democracy” seems to be considered the superior form of Government. The idea being that people are given a say in who will serve them. On the surface I suppose it sounds better than a king or a dictator; however, there is certainly at least one iron clad flaw in the system. The majority decides.
You see it is not you who gets to decide your government, it is the majority and, if the majority of people are no longer willing to accept responsibility for their lives and lose respect for their freedom, the majority will vote away not only their rights but yours as well by putting corrupt people into positions of power who have the same level of respect for the Constitution as the people who put them there. So, if a democracy goes wrong, if the people lose sight of their dignity, then it’s sort of like have millions of dictators to deal with rather than just one. This is the situation in Canada right now.
Now, I don’t live their and I am not a legal expert, especially not in Canadian law, but it seems like the majority or perhaps a vocal minority who are the only one’s involved, which makes it seem like their are the majority, have decided to allow a petty tyrant to take over their country. Legally. This means that any decent will be punished instantly, without cause or due process. It is troubling to see and our prayers go out to our Canadian brothers and sisters; however, we need to take this lesson to heart.
The people as a whole are no longer represented, because a small minority (political elitists) have decided that they have power from a majority (who don’t get to vote on this) to take away everyone’s civil liberties at a whim. This is damaging not only to the citizens of a country, but to the country itself and it is why it is so important to focus on and teach our principles as nation. Any nation that fails to teach human dignity and responsibility along with freedom will eventually lose that freedom. Every second of delay multiplies the cost and the effort it will take to restore freedom once it has been lost.
