The Founding Principles of our Nation

One of the most catastrophic failures of our current culture is the inability of it people to stand on the principles that founded it. The reason we are currently in the mess we are in as a society is because the universal truth on which our society was built is being replaced with special tribalism and special privileges. If we ever hope to return our society to a position of greatness and straight we need to begin by reinstituting the universal truths that made is great in the first place.

This is the ultimate aim of this the work found on this site, to begin examining these principles and looking at ways to actually make them a reality in our world once again. First though, it is important to understand where our inability to stand on truth comes from. This is essential if we ever hope to over come it.

This inability to stand on principle arises in two main ways, the first is a lack of or mistaken understanding of the principles themselves and the second is an unwillingness to be resolute in our defense of those principles, which itself can happen for various reasons. While we will be examining different institutions within our culture over time, we will be looking at our country first.

The United States of America is built on a very unique understanding that was intuited by our founding fathers and as a result of this truth, it has become the pinnacle of Western Society. The founding principle of our nation recognizes the Divinely given rights of all people and operates under the understanding that all people can excel, succeed, and prosper. In addition to that the US charges her citizens with the responsibility of maintaining those freedoms. Our responsibility is to the truth our nation was founded on, not to the government or to the feelings of others.

If you want proof of this reality look no farther than this quote from the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” - Declaration of Independence

Everything great about our nation comes from the recognition of this truth and every time we violate it we cost ourselves a little bit of our integrity and our capacity to excel. Our gifts are not given to us by mankind or by a government, they are given to us by God and anytime we disregard them out of malice or ignorance it costs us dearly.

This truth is universal. It applies to everyone. Everyone is worthy is dignity and respect by virtue of the Divinity of Creation and the misunderstanding of what our culture represents is truly staggering.

You hear so much now adays about being anti-this or anti-that. People are so concerned with being anti-bigot, anti-raciest, anti-fascist, ant-patriarchy. The list goes on and on and on and this is misconstrued as a virtue. People blame our nation for being hatful and exclusionary and we are taught that by excluding the (perceived) excluders we can be inclusive. This is patently absurd; however, the misconception that America was founded on bigotry is so pervasive in our culture that even those who know the true universality behind the US are almost apologetic in their resolve to protect the nation. Understanding the truth our society was built on helps stiffen the spine of most patriots, which helps with the first barrier to standing up for our freedom; however, it is also necessary to why it is virtuous to do so.

It is very hard to not be something and when one attempts such a feat, the universe often plays the cruel trick of making them exactly what they are. This “anti-bigotry” mentality is a reflections of tolerance, which is warping of compassion and mercy. The thought goes: “Because I am anti-hate, I am loving” which could more accurately be stated to say “Because I hate hate, I am loving”, and so hate and we tolerate hate and we allow hate, because we think it equates to love. It does not.

Love is not built on hate. Hate won’t get you there. Instead you have to truly be willing to change. Rather than attempting to be an anti-bigot, rather than attempting to exclude excluders (whether they are real or imaginary), choose instead to acknowledge the dignity of the people around you, even if you believe they are in error.

I am proud… No, I am grateful to be an American, because it is founded on the idea that all people are Divinely created and for that reason (an no other) they have worth and value and dignity. Don’t just talk about the American Principle. Live it. Represent it. Be it. When you chose to be an American, a true American you don’t have to worry about hated, because when you choose to Love, hatred will begin to diminish on it’s own accord.

Choosing to represent our principles is non-optional and it has a price. There will be detractors, critics, and those who simple do not understand, in fact, there are those who are currently seeking to destroy our nation and everything it represents. The people understand the power or our principle. They know that the freedoms, success, and prosperity we enjoy both as a nation and as individuals are contingent on our willingness to live by the principles on which they are built. We must understand this an be even more resolute in this endeavor, because if we let those go, we lose all the benefits that go with it. If we want America to be great again, we need to choose to restore that greatness to America. In fact, we need to BE the greatness of America. There is no other way.
